There are many challenges for the provider to ensure independence from third-party control when designing and implementing CME activities.

From initial concept to final delivery there are several points where the provider may not be sure what to do, including: how to be compliant with the accreditation requirements, terms of pharma funding, faculty management or just internal policies and CME best practice.

Members of gCMEp took part in discussions on this hot topic at the recent 16th Annual European CME Forum. We want to bring this conversation to our webinar series and dedicate a bit more time to develop the ideas with some additional faces and voices.

Celeste Kolanko (Liberum IME) will lead a discussion with Reinbert van der Fluit (PeerVoice) and Thomas Kleinoeder (KWHC) to go through a composite case that captures some key decision points.

An education provider develops a CME accredited activity
– The provider seeks funding from a drug company and the supporter’s drug will be mentioned in the educational activity
– The provider develops the content and submits it to the supporter for review
– The provider asks the supporter for help with learner recruitment
– During the event a representative of the drug company attends the session and corrects the inaccuracy of the speaker
– After the event the drug company supporter requests a list of the learners from the provider
