Note this is a video recording of an online meeting conducted using the Zoom.us platform. Inevitably such recordings suffer a little in terms of their production values because of the internet connectivity and quality of webcams. Despite that, they allow us to provide additional valuable insights in to the MedComms business and we can involve a wider range of speakers who can participate from the comfort of their own desks, wherever in the world they are.
In this webinar, we’re joined by Alan Thomas who runs Ataxia and Me, a patient charity based in Wales with a global following. Ataxia and me focuses on Ataxia, but also includes associated rare diseases and movement disorders. Alan has partnered directly with MedComms agencies, biopharmaceutical companies and other industry groups in his quest to ensure that patient voices are heard more clearly. He has been a frequent conference speaker and is a strong supporter, for example, of PLS (plain language summaries). The increased appetite across the industry in recent years for engaging real life patients in communications activities has now coincided with the digital disruption in established working practices that has been accelerated by the COVID pandemic. On-line conferencing and social media platforms mean his mobility problems no longer need restrict Alan’s advocacy activity in the same ways. But what happens in real life? Is the industry really walking the walk as well as talking the talk? Join us for wide-ranging conversation. And we answer questions from the audience
It should be of interest to anyone who is working in and around MedComms, or who is wanting to join the business.
