Note this is a video recording of an online meeting conducted using the Zoom.us platform. Inevitably such recordings suffer a little in terms of their production values because of the internet connectivity and quality of webcams. Despite that, they allow us to provide additional valuable insights in to the MedComms business and we can involve a wider range of speakers who can participate from the comfort of their own desks, wherever in the world they are.
In this webinar, Katie Johnson, Talent Acquisition Associate at Ashfield Healthcare Communications, talks us through their Allegro training programme for Associate Medical Writers, and the recruitment process, and then answers questions from the audience. It should be of interest to anyone who is looking for insights in to MedComms as a career and specifically for those of you who are looking for entry-level opportunities in medical writing.
Recorded 20 September 2018 as a FirstMedCommsJob webinar. Produced by NetworkPharma.tv

Allegro has been designed to achieve a number of objectives, specifically linked to providing a strong talent pipeline to fuel company growth, providing quality assurance in Associate Medical Writer development, attracting the best talent to Ashfield Healthcare Communications and supporting the agencies in the training and pastoral care of junior Medical and Scientific Services staff.
The 12-month, accelerated-learning programme, comprising of an 8-week training phase followed by two five-month rotations around our healthcare communications agencies, after which the Allegro recruits will join an agency team full-time as a medical writer (assuming predefined performance benchmarks have been met). The initial focus will be on the training of our UK-based junior writers, with expansion to the USA a possibility in the longer term. The programme will be a new way of operating for Ashfield Healthcare Communications and will, as it grows to its full capacity of up to 60 recruits per year, bring wider benefits, such as a strong message to our customers about our investment in people and our capacity to deliver client work.
