ABSTRACT:
A simple ‘hello’ can lead to a million things, as the saying goes. It’s so true of the opportunities that can stem from our interactions with others. The way we come across and how effectively we communicate in person makes a big difference to how we are perceived. Getting our presentations right is about so much more than presentation skills. It’s about priming the audience to listen and to really engage with us. Chris’s talk looks at four simple ways to create the best possible conditions for effective presentations: creating a relaxed and engaging tone; making a relevant introduction (most people don’t!); using the audience’s context to get them on side, and not distracting from the message we’re hoping to deliver.
