ABSTRACT:

Many pharmaceutical companies aspire to be more active and innovative online, but are hesitant about navigating the compliance environment. Managing dynamic content on multiple platforms, ensuring an appropriate balance of content for healthcare professionals and the public, and engaging responsibly within social media networks can be challenging. However, the apparent barriers are not insurmountable.

Sarah’s presentation shares insights into the key UK ABPI and Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) references documents, and highlights recent ABPI Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Authority (PMCPA) Code cases, which provide key learnings.

Medical communications agencies have a fantastic opportunity to upskill in online compliance. By increasing their awareness of the compliance framework, agencies will both be more competent and develop a professional competitive edge. This, in turn, can help pharmaceutical companies achieve more effective and comprehensive online communications and interactions with patients, the public and healthcare professionals.
