ABSTRACT:

The compliance environment surrounding the pharmaceutical industry has changed significantly over recent years. Compliance was historically viewed as an obstruction to meeting and events delivery. Now, however, it can be realistically seen as an enabler in helping to drive best practice in the sector and develop good relationships with our clients and healthcare professionals. There is much to be gained by agencies taking responsibility for compliance, developing expertise in compliance in the meeting and events space, and remaining vigilant about the content and delivery being underpinned by country and regional compliance codes relevant to different markets. Tailoring of client services to compliance codes can be used to drive content in terms of both best practice and high science. Scientifically driven content will add value to the events we deliver for clients, help to grow our relationships with them, and ultimately benefit healthcare professionals and patients, along with industry’s relationships with both groups. We can use the language of compliance codes, such as the ABPI Code, when communicating with clients to demonstrate our knowledge, integrity and potential value. In this way agencies can enjoy compliance – and make it work for them.
