ABSTRACT:
Lucid offer tailored packages to attract good medical writers, comprising flexibility in terms of the hours and location of work, project and therapy areas, training and mentoring, holiday arrangements and gym membership. Celebrating its 10-year anniversary in February 2017, with 100 employees, three offices in the UK and one in the USA, Lucid continues to grow, distinguished from other medical education agencies by its unique company culture and a far-sighted mission to advance patient outcomes. ‘We have a clear vision’, says Katherine Duxbury, ‘to create highly valued programmes for clients, healthcare professionals and patients, to advance clinical practice and improve patient outcomes, and to elevate the standard of medical education across the industry’.
Lucid’s mission to use medical education to advance patient outcomes has employed behavioural psychology and health psychology advisers to help identify and overcome barriers to behavioural change. ‘We challenge ourselves to measure the outcome of our initiatives’, says Katherine, ‘to go beyond looking at healthcare professionals’ participation and satisfaction with programmes to see the effects on their behaviour and on patient outcomes – and we engage stakeholders in the process’. Lucid’s Advanced Outcomes approach has won several awards, as has the company’s approach to medical education, winning it Communique’s Medical Education Agency of the Year award for an unprecedented three years in a row.
