ABSTRACT:
7.4 is part of AMICULUM: an independent, privately owned cluster of agencies that deliver services and consultancy to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies globally. Based in Oxford and Richmond, 7.4 are a full-service medical communications agency, offering meetings, medical affairs, commercial and digital services. The name 7.4 was chosen to signify the perfect balance needed in medical communications between scientific integrity and commercial acumen. 7.4 pride themselves on their flexibility and the quality of work delivered, and they are passionate about data visualisation, having run training courses at the Guardian newspaper as well as bespoke internal training. Longlisted in 2016 for the Information is Beautiful Awards, they have a data visualisation board in their office, which illustrates fun things such as staff cheese or chocolate preferences, and changes week by week.
A scientific background is a bonus for those applying to work on the editorial side with 7.4, though a PhD is not mandatory. Editorial staff must be skilled communicators and able to manage their time effectively, as the agency bills clients by the hour. 7.4 would recommend those wanting to enter medcomms to do their homework, starting with the firstmedcommsjob.com site, and researching and networking to find the agency that is right for them.
